Isla Taquile
Know Isla Taquile
The island of Taquile or Intika in Quechua language, has interesting ruins that belong to the period of the Incas. One of these vestiges is a staircase with more than 560 steps that allow you to reach the highest part of the town.
It also has chullpas, that is to say stone towers that were used like houses of rectangular form. Other ruins are Mulsinapata, Quanopata, Quinuapata, Cruzpata and Pukarapata. The Hatun Nan or big road is the route to the beaches of Collata Suyo and Huallano. The island also has several natural viewpoints to take photos of Lake Titicaca
The inhabitants of Taquile are called Taquileños and they stand out for their conservation of the style of life and the pre-Columbian customs. This can be seen in the way they dress, their gastronomy and the quiet life on the island, with minimal presence of cars and hotels, but a good tourism network organized by the same community.
