Explore from Titicaca Lake to Hito Cajón, located in the frontier between Chile and Bolivia. You will visit the main attractions of bolivian high plateau, such as Isla del Sol, Uyuni Salt Flat, Colchani town and Reserva Eduardo Abaroa.

Ecolodge la Estancia:
• To reach the Ecolodge La Estancia will have a smooth walk of an hour and a half.
• Luggage transportation from the port to Ecolodge and back is done with the help of donkeys, mules or lamas. In order to ease the transportation, passengers shall bring personal belongings only what is necessary and not more, so the animals won’t be doing an extra and unnecessary effort. Your extra luggage can be left with one of our representatives in Copacabana.

Uyuni:
• Winter Season (June, July August): water may freeze in the pipes and could take several minutes to heat up
• Rainy season: (January to April) Roads might be in bad shape. Uyuni Saltsee is flooded. Access to Pucara de Ayque or Incahuasi might be difficult or impossible. Program migh have to be changed due to these reasons.
• As roads in Uyuni & REA aren’t paved, we will use 4x4 cars, each one with a maximum of 4 passengers. To avoid high costs, guide and / or TC will go in the back part of the cars if it will be necessary.

Museums:
• Museums in La Paz close on holidays, Saturday and Sunday afternoon and all day Monday.

 

 

Itinerary

Day 1.  Saturday/Tuesday. Puno - Copacabana - Island of the Sun

Transportation from Puno to Copacabana (3 ½ hours). Visit the famous Virgen Morena and its church, have a stroll of town and take the boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour), land in Huacani port, have a typical lunch 
“Aptapi”. Hike for about 45 min to overnight in Ecolodge La Estancia.

Day 2.  Sunday/Wednesday. Island of the Sun - La Paz

DON’T MISS A GREAT SUNRISE! Boat to La Chincana (1 hour), to see this great Inca ruins, continue in boat to the Moon Island, visit the Iñak Uyu ruins (1 ½ hours), boat to Copacabana (1 hours). Transportation to La Paz (3 ½ hours).  Transportation to La Paz (3 ½ hours).

Day 3.  Monday/Thursday. Am City tour (half day) 

A 4 hour morning tour in of La Paz, including the area of the street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. The tour goes through the colonial part of the city, San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square and the outdoor replica of the Tiwanaku temple. Then to the modern part of town, dropping down a lot in elevation to finally visit the Valley of the Moon, enjoy all of its natural geological formations. Cable car ride, this trip is a must for everyone!

Day 4. Tuesday/Friday. Flight La Paz - Uyuni – Uyuni Salt Flats (full day)

Morning flight from La Paz to Uyuni (08.15 – 09.15 m), transfer to your hotel nearby in Colchani in the shores of the Uyuni salt flats. Visit the village and its surroundings to see locals producing salt, enter this natural wonder with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m of salt is something really special. Trip through the salt flats crossing to Isla Incahuasi (2 hours), a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Then north to see Pucara de Ayque at the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Trip back to Colchani (2 hours). Enjoy a nice sunset and overnight in a unique salt hotel.

Day 5.  Wednesday/Saturday. Colchani - Uyuni - Alota - Villamar

Trip south crossing the town of Uyuni, leaving it to visit the cemetery of old trains and then enter the southern highlands crossing the villages of San Cristobal mine, Culpina K and enter the rich and high Andean valley of Alota (4 hours), continue south with great stone formations done by the erosion, to finally reach Villamar (1 hour).

Overnight: Mallku Cueva Hotel 

Day 6.  Thursday/Sunday. Villamar - Reserve Eduardo Abaroa (REA) - Hito Cajón (boarder with Chile)

Long day! Trip to REA through Polkes and visiting: Laguna Colorada (4,278m – 2 hours), declared a RAMSAR site due to the nesting of over 30,000 Andean flamingos, geysers “Sol de Mañana”, Chalviri lagoon and its hot springs of Polques. Continue the high deserts of Pampas de Dali until “Laguna Verde” (3 hours), a beautiful green lagoon at the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain, continue until de Bolivian boarder Hito Cajón.
